A note about the symbol: Not unlike a cross moline, and somewhat akin to the anchored cross, with rams horn like details splitting the ends, or pulling them backwards, at the four points of the cross, this heraldic symbol goes back as far as the the mid 1200’s and was used by knights in battle, for ceremony and as a sacred symbol of worship.
A note about the jeweler: James Avery, a Kerrville, Texas based jeweler and metalsmith first taught himself the art of designing and fabricating jewelry in 1951, opening up his studio and shop, out of his mother-in-law’s garage in 1954, he specialized in religious symbolism jewelry. Known as the “Jeweler in the Hills’, he would continue to design and manufacture pieces until the time of his death in 2018. His designs and those of his craftsmen and women are sold at over 70 stores nationwide and continue to remain successful to this day.
