When I was 23 years old, I took my first solo trip. Two weeks traveling all over the country of  Costa Rica, a country I’d never been to. On my journey I kept meeting artists who were making and selling their work, in order to have enough money to get to their next destination. Wow, I thought, how incredible is that? When I got back home to Austin, where I was living at the time, I made my very first pair of these.
